Oak Hill has been an active farm since the late 1800s.  Originally Oak Hill Plantation was an active cotton plantation.

The farmhouse was built around 1886.  All the wood in the house was cut from the property, shipped by wagon and train to be milled.  The cotton barn and the smoke house were constructed, as best we can tell, around 1910.

Though originally painted white, I had it repainted blue in the early 1980s.

General Sherman had his field hospital in his area after the Battle of Atlanta.
